The Jefferson Parish Public School System is offering pre-kindergarten classes at most school sites during the school year. This program is a full-day program designed to better prepare your child for kindergarten.

Each day the students participate in a consistent daily routine that includes large and small group activities, story time, center time, outdoor play, snack time and rest time. The curriculum provides appropriate child-initiated and teacher directed activities that stimulate the child's intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth. Language development is also emphasized through daily exposure to music, stories, finger plays, nursery rhymes, and dramatic play. The learning environment is child-centered and is made up of a variety of learning centers that foster creativity, problem-solving, social skills, and concept development.

Pre-Kindergarten classes are offered at the following schools during the 2011/2012 school year:

Registration for 2012-2013 School Year will be held on July 23rd.

Guidelines

• Child must be four (4) years old on or before September 30, 2012.
• All accepted applicants must complete a lunch application.
• Students not qualifying for free/reduced lunch maybe subject to tuition.
• Preference will be given to applicants within each school attendance zone.
• Bus transportation will be provided for students within the school attendance zone.
• Before/After School Childcare may be available.

If you would like your child to participate in the pre-kindergarten program please bring the following documents to registration:

• A certified copy of the child's birth certificate.
• The child's immunization record
• The child's social security card
• Two proofs of residence
  (Ex. LA Driver’s License or LA State ID Card and a current utility bill and/or rental receipt or lease agreement)

At a majority of the sites, a FREE program is available to students who qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Students who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch are welcome to participate but will be charged the monthly tuition fee of $300, $400, or $500 per month (tuition is subject to change).

• The child's immunization record
• The child's social security card
• Two proofs of residence

• Registration Fee $75 (non-refundable)
