The Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) will offer Summer School for credit recovery, removal of deficiencies, or new credit for students presently enrolled in grades 8-12. All course work will be online learning using PLATO Learning System. For questions concerning PLATO, please call your child’s school counselor during school hours. Students enrolled in grades 4-7 may attend and take subjects at a state accredited Summer School site as per Bulletin 741. Jefferson Parish Public School System does not offer Summer School for grades 4-7.

Summer School hours are as follows:

Students must be in assigned classroom or designated, supervised areas on campus.
Students must follow the behavioral expectations according to 2011-2012 Procedures and Policies for Parents and Students.

There will be two semesters for Summer School, 2012. Students must complete course requirements (content and hours, if needed) for A or B in one course within 15 days before registering for another course. For example
• a student needs to successfully complete Biology B and Geometry A
register for and complete Biology B within 15 days
then register for Geometry A for the final 15 days
• a student needs to successfully complete Algebra I A and B
register for and complete Algebra I A within 15 days
then register for Algebra I B within 15 days
• a student needing more than a new or repeat unit of credit is advised to carefully consider
there are only 30 days for summer school
should review the recommended online learning hours prior to registering
• a student in the eighth grade needing repeat courses and LEAP remediation is advised to carefully consider
one course must be completed within the first 15 days (June 5-25)
another course must be completed within 15 days (June 28-July 19)
LEAP remediation will be from June 4-22 and testing is June 25-29.
• a student in the eighth grade needing 1 repeat course and LEAP is advised to carefully consider
focusing on LEAP remediation, June.
Register for 1 repeat course (June 27) and begin course remediation June 28-July 19.

• The cost per semester is $210.00 for residents of Jefferson Parish and is due at registration.
• Cost per semester is $310.00 for non residents and is due at registration.
• Payment may be made via cash or money order made payable to Jefferson Parish Public School System. Full payment for all students is due at registration.
• Students must provide their own transportation, ear phones, notebook, pens and pencils for each course. Registration begins at 8 AM at each site.
• Students must have the following documentation before being allowed to register:
Summer School permission form signed by the counselor (Revised 2/2012)
A copy of the final report card, 2011-2012 school year
Proof of residence, such as a current utility bill, driver’s license and so forth.
