Twenty-five schools in the Jefferson Parish Public School System have achieved Recognized or Exemplary Growth from the Louisiana Department of Education based on 2009 school performance scores.
Nine schools earned the distinction of Recognized Academic Growth and sixteen schools earned the distinction of Exemplary Academic Growth.
The Jefferson Parish School Board will recognize the 25 schools and their principals during the board’s August 4 meeting with the presentation of a special banner that will be affixed at each school.
The state awards are based on data and calculations from the 2009 high stakes testing. The state Dept. of Education is still processing the data and there may be more schools in the system to be recognized. This is the first time since Hurricane Katrina in 2005 that the state dept. of education has awarded the recognized or exemplary growth banners.
